The Economy of El Salvador is unique in it's exports because it is a product that most of us have every day and we don't even know where it comes from! Yep you guessed it COFFEE! Coffee is El Salvador's main export and is what most people make their daily life's off of. Since coffee is not very expensive in the U.S.A. and since El Salvador imports very expensive things, El Salvador is a poor country. This country suffers from a weak tax collection system that does not benefit anyone. El Salvador is not a big manufacturing country so farming has been he center of economy for the past 100 years! But, In recent time El Salvador is opening up to manufacturing so that they have more products other than coffee and other crops. El Salvador's products are mostly imported to Western Europe, The United States, and Japan. Most of the industries are based on food production, beverages, the making of petroleum, furniture and light metals. The big problem in El Salvador is that 6.9% of people are unemployed and that's a lot of people in a small country. El Salvador is a small country making their profits off of coffee, and this native country is opening up to more industrial types of products.
